Beaufort Weather Station

The Beaufort weather station was established in April 2017 through the support of Science Foundation Ireland. The station serves to support outreach and communication, such as increasing our educational capacity, and highlighting the variety of research in the centre which includes climate science and communications as well as marine and renewables research. The station also connects MaREI to an extensive citizen supported weather network and serves to improve understanding of localised weather conditions in the area, as compared to other established  local weather stations (e.g Met Éireann Roches Point). It is hoped that the long term results of the station will help in understanding local meteorological differences, and the factors influencing these
