OVERVIEW

Since joining UCC in 2005, Kathrin has been working within the Coastal and Marine Governance group on research subjects that address adaptation to climate change, Marine Spatial Planning (MSP) and work involving the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD), with focus on Descriptor 10 (Marine Litter) and Descriptor 11 (Underwater Noise). Kathrin has extensive experience in stakeholder engagement, science communication, group facilitation, outreach and dissemination work, through her work in numerous internationally funded projects. These skills were developed by leading communication, dissemination, and stakeholder engagement work packages in research projects that focus on marine litter, underwater noise and coastal eco-engineering.

Most recent funding awards and projects include:

▪ SEPT 2022 – AUG 2026: SOS-ZEROPOL2030 – SOURCE TO SEAS – ZERO POLLUTION 2030 – Coordinator / Horizon Europe funding

▪ SEPT 2022 – AUG 2026: MarineSABRES – MARINE SYSTEMS APPROACHES FOR BIODIVERSITY RESILIENCE AND ECOSYSTEM SUSTAINABLITY – Leading WP7: Project Communications, Dissemination, and Impact / Horizon Europe
