A wave energy workshop will be held in the Glenroyal Hotel, Maynooth on Friday the 20th of January, 2017. Speakers from a wide range of backgrounds will be present do discuss a variety of topics such as:

  • WEC Design
  • WEC hydrodynamic modelling
  • Hydrodynamic WEC modelling in the computation/fidelity continuum
  • Modelling viscous forces in a computationally efficient way
  • Evaluation of energy maximising control systems for WECs in CFD
  • Control of the PTO system of OWCs: feedback vs model predictive control
  • Fault tolerant control in marine energy systems: a wave energy perspective
  • Hydrodynamic control with approximate device parameters
  • WEC experiments and the equations of motion
  • Experimental modelling and hybrid simulations of axisymmetric point absorbers
  • Estimation and forecasting for the Wavepower WEC
  • Instabilities of WECs: good news or bad news?
