Magdalena is a researcher in the Materials & Structures and Energy Management groups of MaREI, working on the influence of structural design on the environmental and energy performance of buildings.
Magdalena is a senior postdoctoral researcher and an adjunct lecturer in the College of Engineering and Informatics at NUI Galway. Magdalena is currently working on an industry research fellowship funded by the Science Foundation Ireland with Tobin Consulting Engineers. She is also involved in a number of other projects, including nZEB-RETROFIT (funded by the Science Foundation Ireland), Hit2Gap (EU Horizon 2020) and ‘Aerodynamic optimisation of cycling in para-sports’ (in collaboration with TU/e).
Magdalena is a graduate of Wroclaw University of Technology, Poland where she obtained a Master of Civil Engineering. The topic of her dissertation was ‘Technological and economic analysis of a deep retrofit of a large residential precast concrete building’. In 2013 she completed her PhD under the supervision of Dr. Marcus Keane at NUI Galway. The topic of her PhD thesis was ‘Formal calibration methodology relating to CFD models of naturally ventilated internal environments’. Since then she worked on a number of research projects, including Irish Research Council Enterprise Partnership Scheme with Oran PreCast and Horizon2020 Built2Spec project.
