OVERVIEW 

Sumair’s research focuses on the synthesis and characterization of electrode materials for rechargeable batteries.  Currently, he is working on the development of alloy-based anode materials for advanced lithium-ion and beyond lithium-ion batteries.

BACKGROUND

 Sumair Imtiaz was born in Pakistan and graduated from the University of Gujrat receiving a First Class Honours degree in Chemical Engineering.  He was then awarded a Chinese Government Scholarship which allowed him to join the University of Jinan in China for his Master’s degree. Since December 2018, he has been working at the Nanotechnology group in UL with Prof. Kevin M. Ryan as a PhD researcher, having received funding from the SFI and MaREI.
