Thaize’s PhD aims to enhance the use of Earth Observation (EO) data in volcanic ash monitoring and forecasting by demonstrating the suitability of the data for these type of activities. One of the main goals, is to improve the existing monitoring and forecasting services for ash transport and its interaction with aviation and also agriculture.
Meteorologist, graduated from the Institute of Astronomy, Geophysics and Atmospheric Sciences (IAG) of the University of São Paulo – Brazil. In 2015, received a master’s degree from NUIG (National University of Ireland – Galway) in Climate Change Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS). The masters were developed along with the International Centre for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) in Cali, Colombia, in which teleconnections and its influence on weather patterns in northern Colombia in order to integrate regional weather forecast with agro-climatic risk were investigated.
