Professor Hannah Daly Presents Groundbreaking Research on Data Centres’ Climate Impact at Leinster House

MaREI’s Professor Hannah Daly from University College Cork was honoured to be invited to Leinster House to present the findings of her research on the impact of data centres on Ireland’s fossil fuel use, electricity demand and greenhouse gas emissions.

The event was attended by several TDs, including political party climate spokespeople, and their staff. Hannah discussed the slide pictured right, which contains many of the narratives on data centre sustainability that are used to justify their very rapid expansion, which is mainly powered by fossil fuels.

The research is published here.
