Empowering Society

“Supporting societal engagement on grand challenges to facilitate participatory action on the energy transition, climate action and the blue economy.”

Global challenges can only be addressed successfully with the support and involvement of civil society. To this end, MaREI are continually building expertise in stakeholder engagement and collaborative trans-disciplinary research to facilitate societal engagement through research, education and outreach, training, community-based initiatives, and consultative and participatory frameworks.

MaREI are advancing engaged research and participatory methodologies, with the active involvement of civil society, by supporting stakeholder engagement and involvement across the research life cycle.  We continue to collaborate on raising awareness and literacy in the areas of the energy transition, climate action, and the blue economy through outreach, education and training opportunities. Through the provision of accessible, evidence based information we aim to facilitate informed decision-making, and ultimately inform policy and practice.  We strive to measure and evaluate our education and public engagement activities to gauge impact and continually refine our approach.
