Experience Sharing from Ocean to Land – TIDAL Arts Workshop

August 26, 2025 10:00 am

On 26 August 2025, University College Cork’s Sustainability Institute will host a unique one-day workshop titled “Where Art and Science Meet: Experience Sharing from Ocean to Land.” Supported by Shift Cost Action and the TIDAL ArtS project, this event is designed to inspire attendees through real-world examples of how artistic and scientific practices can intersect and collaborate.

Bringing International Voices Together

The workshop features international speakers from Hungary, Italy, Portugal (Azores), and Finland, all of whom bring diverse experiences in merging scientific research with creative and artistic approaches. From hosting artist residencies to fostering local community engagement, these case studies will offer insight into the evolving relationship between science and the arts.

Representatives from the TIDAL ArtS project will also present their vision for uniting ocean values with interdisciplinary practice across art and science.

Who Should Attend?

Everyone is welcome, especially artists and researchers interested in co-creation, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and experiential learning. The event will also include an opportunity for attendees to showcase their own work. This could be a physical artworkpoem, or even a project leaflet representing an art-science collaboration. Attendees are encouraged to bring these items with them to the venue.
