OVERVIEW 

Derek serves as the Laboratory Manager for the Circular Economy, Energy, and Environmental Systems Group based in the Ellen Hutchins Building.

BACKGROUND

Derek joined the Circular Economy, Energy, and Environmental Systems Group in March 2024, after serving for over twenty years as Head of the Marine Section in the Aquatic Services Unit at University College Cork. During his tenure, he contributed to both academic and consultancy projects, with a strong focus on laboratory and field studies. Over his career, he has co-authored numerous academic and consultancy reports, as well as several peer-reviewed publications.
