PhD Student
Postgraduate Student
UCC Energy Transition Energy Policy & Modelling

OVERVIEW

Doorgeshwaree is currently a PhD student in the Energy Policy and Modelling group, working on the SELFS (Sustainable integrated pathways for carbon-negative energy, land and food systems) project.

BACKGROUND

Doorgeshwaree holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemical and Energy Engineering from the University of Mauritius and a Master’s degree in Environmental Science from Beijing Normal University. For her Master’s thesis, she worked with the energy system model, OSeMOSYS, to develop low-carbon electricity transition pathways for Mauritius. Before that, she worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Mauritius for 2 years, engaging in research for climate change adaptation and mitigation for Small Island Developing States (SIDS). Her research interests include energy systems modelling, climate change mitigation, energy policy and integrated assessment models.

Feature Project

SELFS

The SELFS will develop a new national-level integrated assessment model of energy-land-food systems to explore these possible divergent futures, focussing on Ireland, and draw insights for long-term climate policy.
