BACKGROUND

I am a post-doctoral researcher in Combustion Chemistry Centre at the National University of Ireland, Galway. Prior to joining the position, I obtained my PhD degree from Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Guwahati. I had taken up “Numerical and experimental investigations of gaseous and liquid fuels combustion in SiC-Al2O3-based porous inert burner” as the topic of my doctoral dissertation. My investigation comprises of both experimental, numerical modeling and some analytical analyses. I have developed a finite volume method based non-equilibrium model in order to solve the complex combustion mechanism within the porous burner by incorporating the solid-phase energy equation, volumetric radiative transfer equation and convective heat transfer between gas- and solid-phase into the source code of premixed laminar code CANTERA. I have co-invented a product by employing the heat recirculation mechanism of porous burner in conventional LPG cooking stoves to obtain higher thermal efficiencies and lower pollutant emissions from these traditional burners.
