Galway Climate Inspirations Festival

MaREI’s recently attended the Galway Climate Inspirations Festival last week as an EU Climate Pact ambassador. Below are some of Lydia’s reflections from her visit:

  • Panel session sharing our reflections from BluePrint Creative Ireland project – I highlighted the important role for universities/ research institutions to build transdisciplinary partnerships bridging the arts, policy and science, and the opportunities these projects open up for more engaged research within HEIs. See more in our toolkit.
  • Climate Carnival exploring my own creative side (papermaking) where I used a 3D printed topography map of Galway city as a mould for participants to artistically make their own 3D flood map (using floodinfo.ie). Lots of interesting conversations with the community who want to see Galway become more climate resilient (and less reliant on those orange water tubes!)
  • I’m looking forward to taking the experiences from this event into the DIRECTED project to inform our Climate Festival plans in Zala, Hungary.
