PhD StudentPostgraduate Student UCC Energy Transition, Climate Action Coastal & Marine Systems
OVERVIEW
Emma is one of the two PhD students involved in the Cork Coastline Vulnerability Study. Cork County Council and MaREI, the Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) Research Centre for Energy, Climate and Marine at UCC, have agreed a three and a half pioneering partnership that will see the 1,199km Cork coast assessed and mapped for vulnerability to coastal erosion to inform future planning of coastal management. Under the supervision of Fiona Cawkwell in the Geography department, and Jimmy Murphy and Michael O’Shea at MaREI, Emma is using her GIS and Remote Sensing background to develop a novel Coastal Vulnerability Index for the Cork coastline.
