The Children and Young People’s Assembly on Biodiversity Loss is highlighted by UNESCO

The Children and Young People’s Assembly on Biodiversity Loss was mentioned in an article on UNESCO’s website entitled ‘How Ireland promotes youth engagement in education for sustainable development’.

As part of its work to strengthen education for sustainable development (ESD), UNESCO is spotlighting young people’s engagement in Ireland, where various initiatives support the empowerment and mobilization of youth for ESD.

Irish youth have the opportunity to directly offer recommendations to the government in regard to the Climate Action Plan 2024 through their participation in the National Youth Assembly on Climate and through the Children and Young People’s Assembly on Biodiversity Loss.  Young people in Ireland also contributed a chapter to Ireland’s Voluntary National Review 2023 of implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, the first time such a chapter has been included in any country’s VNR.
