CCAT Project

Introduction

The CCAT project aims to support coastal communities in Fingal (Ireland) and Pembrokeshire (Wales) in understanding climate change and how to adapt. The project is led by University College Dublin in partnership with Fingal County Council and University College Cork/MaREI in Ireland, and Cardiff University, Pembrokeshire Coastal Forum, and the Port of Milford Haven in Wales. The CCAT project recognizes that the Irish Sea and its coastal communities are directly impacted by climate change and aims to respond by helping to build resilience (adaptive capacity to change); facilitate marine and climate citizenship; and realize the potential of the Irish Sea region. The project is working to engage communities through observation and sense-making of their environment and co-creation of solutions to identified challenges through various mechanisms including participatory mapping, knowledge exchange workshops, Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), Geodesign, Geo games, and the production of learning resources such as didactic videos.
