The Dingle Peninsula claims top prize at the Irish Times Greenest Places competition
Communities around the country are striving to live more sustainably. An Irish Times competition sought out the Greenest Places with the Dingle Peninsula claiming top prize, sponsored by Electric Ireland.
The four category winners, for Ireland’s Greenest Suburb, Village, Town and Community were: Dún Laoghaire in Co Dublin; Inagh in Co Clare; Skerries in Co Dublin; and the Dysart River Project in the midlands.
The Dingle Peninsula community have tested new low carbon technologies, explored sustainable food production within a circular economy context, built community capacity, developed new economic activity and generously shared these successes (and challenges) with other communities, in national and in international conferences.
