Climate Ireland

Ireland’s climate is changing, temperatures are increasing, sea levels are rising and patterns of precipitation are changing. These changes are projected to continue and intensify into the future regardless of our efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions with some level of climate impact assured.  As such adaptation to climate change is urgently required to offset adverse impacts and take advantage of any opportunities that climate change might bring.

Climate Ireland is funded by the EPA/DECC and through Ireland’s National Adaptation Framework (2018) is recognised as a key national resource to support adaptation planning in Ireland. Climate Ireland supports local and sectoral adaptation planning through its one-stop web-based resource of climate and adaptation information for Ireland, the development and delivery of bespoke training workshops, and by directly supporting national and local decisionmakers in adaptation policy development and implementation.  On behalf of the DCCAE, Climate Ireland has developed local and sectoral adaptation planning guidelines and is working directly with regional, local, and sectoral representatives in advancing adaptation planning in Ireland.
